Default I cant get these lights to turn on :( help please

ok ive undone my gauges dug around my fuses and searched the hell out of the internet...

The problem being that I cannot get my instrument cluster to light up when i turn on the lights, or at that turn on at all... this is the same for the climate control as well...

Any idea on what it could be, or anyway i could possibly wire to my headlights to get them to turn on?

Any help is highly appreciated in my book

Have you checked to see if you even getting any power to any of them if not than start from there and see if you have a loose wire somewhere.

i've got the same problem with my 89 crx so if you figure it out let me know. i'm thinkin mine is a bad ground some where cause my ol' climate control was broke and had a wire stickin out and when that got grounded my lights would go on but w/ a new one they don't come on at all. still lookin though.

The actual dimmer switch itself might be bad.

Isn't that the same thing, except the multimeter has more functions.

The function of the dash dimmer on Honda's is a little different than some other cars!!!

Normally a dash light would have ground on one side and the dimmer switch varies the voltage to the other side.

<U>On honda's, the voltage is a straight 12 volts (when the dash lights are turned on) and it's the reference to ground that the dimmer switch plays with.</U>

If you are wiring up aftermarket gauges, then you may not be able to get the dimmer function to work due to the light bulb being grounded through the gauge body.

If you think the dimmer switch is bad, jumper across it and the dash should come on "full bright".

Okay ive been searching for awhile i found a diagram but the diagram doesnt match up with my clip...

Diagram says

C1 = green/blue
C2 = blue red
C3 = yel/green
C4 = yel/white
C5 = yellow/red
C6 = red
C7 = red/black

so on and so on

My harness in my car is

C1=Green
C2=Yellow
C3=Yellow
C4=Yellow
C5=Green
C6=Red
C7=Red/black

All these wires have some odd color stripes i was just comparing the base colors at this point

Also i checked a couple of wires for power, at C6 and C7 I get no power with the lights on or off and at the back of the dimmer i get power from both the red and red/black wire when the lights are only on not off so i know i have power from the switch to the dimmer.. but where does it all go from there?

The other day I put a new gauge cluster in my hatch and i hooked up the 2 plugs and the spedo cable and turned on the interior lights and nothing. So i hooked up the dimmer switch and the defroster and problem solved.
