Default Prelude Half shaft, 5speed or auto?

How can you tell if the Prelude half (intermediate) shaft is from an auto or 5 speed?

no, they are different. the half shaft of the auto sits closer to the block than the 5spd.

Does that go for all H22 preludes or just 5th gens?

Really? I was told by DSS that both 5speed H22 4th gen-5th gen are the same.

As far as 5th gen goes, they are the same part number. Now if the 4th gen are the same as 5th gen, well looks like driveshaftshop.com answered that.

the half shafts on both 4th gen and 5th gen manuals are interhangable. the halfshift on the auto 5th gen is not useable on a manual tranny it will not line up with the hole in the trans.

Yeah that's why I'm asking how to tell the difference between them, without lining it up on the tranny itself.

It will be extremly difficult without another shaft to compare to. They are so similar it's hardly worth describing.

I did an Auto to Manual conversion on my 5g and we held the new 5spd shaft next to the old auto. The main difference in the length of the area the goes into the tranny. The inner area is slightly longer on one of them.

I bought one from a guy that said it was off a JDM H22 swap, just wanted to make sure so I don't run into problems.

Yeah he said it was off his JDM H22 swap, so it should be. Do you know if it's a 5 speed though?

oh as far as i konw, the 4th gen jdm autos didnt have a half shaft, it was just unequal length axles. it was in the 5th gens that definitely have a half shaft for the auto.
