Default Non Deceleration Backfiring issue. Need help.

I had not ridden my motorcycle in about a week, week and a half. I went to ride the bike and it ran like crap. It felt like after I had unchoked it and started riding that it still was not warmed up, even though I let it warm up for 10 min. There was no low end power and the bike felt like it was going to stall out every time I was taking off. Except when I reved it a little higher than normal. I spent the day today with my brother riding it and went to walmart and got some carb cleaner and ran a little bit of that through it. The low end power came back pretty good on the ride home but there was a ton of backfiring just above a quarter handle turn of the throttle. It does this when I am sitting in neutral, or when I am riding, and put the throttle to that position. It lightly backfires "pop, pop, pop" every once in a while. These are just a little louder than Deceleration Backfiring. I was told that the new gas with ethanol has been going bad fast, and that it gums up cabs a lot. Does anyone have any ideas for me. I would rather not take it to a shop and have to spend several hundreds of dollars to fix the problem.....oh and of course this happens just as I want to sell the bike!

Also nothing was changed on the bike. No aftermarket anything and I haven't adjusted anything.

Help!
