help: timing belt stretch? using a PE belt
i just changed my retainers, i had portflows that had 30k on them so i switched to toda(didnt want to worry about dropping a valve)
setup is:
toda Bs
toda spring/retainer
PE timming belt(~30k)
well the car is back together and doing the timing belt got the marks on, started with the exhaust came then went to the intake, turned the belt 3 teeth tightened the adjuster. turned the motor by hand 2 full cycles marks are still on.
when i started the car, started normally, but noticed the front side of the belt had a shake to it, more than ive ever seen(but ive never saw a car with toda Bs, just cars with ITR/CTR cams) my cover is always on, this is teh first time i started it with the upper cover off. so this is leading me to belive that the belt is stretched, im going to watkins glen monday, only belt i can get my hands on by then is a god year and possibly a honda OE would it be retarded of me to use one of those for the time?

I don't know about PE belts (I heard they don't stretch or give as easily) but an OEM belt that is set up properly WILL shake on the exhaust side (sometimes even on the intake side) when the engine is cold. As the engine warms up it should mostly go away until there is a slight bit of belt shaking as you rev up and down. When cold though you will definatley see it flapping/shaking if its tensioned properly.
i tried adjusting it 1 more time, same thing, all i can get my hands on is a goodyear rubber belt, im thinking of throwing it on just for th track day and then put a PE/toda/etc on after.
