Well the stock virgin ecu for the obd1 b16 would be the P30

If your going with a chipped ecu then you will need a P30 or P28 with the p30 maps imported to start off tuning...

yeah and the check engine light will be on all the time cause the b16 doesnt have any iab's. the p72 is a great ecu on a b18c,,not a b16a..unless you mean chipped? which wouldnt make any sense seeing how p28's are everywhere, cheaper and even available already chipped from certain places..

As Mr.Speaker mentioned earlier, P28 is the best option for the money. It can be programmed to run any engine, and it is found for about $100.
P72 ecu is good too, but why pay more money for it?

Possibly Someone with the knowledge could chime in with the true benefits of having a knock sensor w/ proper ecu, while tuning

i have street tuned my P28 using CromePro, plx m300 WB, Ostrich, Burn1 and all other hardware i bought from xenocron.

i have yet to find out how my extra virgin P30 ecu will help me tune timing while relying on its on-board knock sensor to achieve MBT.

So would running with the knock board and sensor adds some added safety? How much timing will the knock circuit actually pull ?
