Default 1984 Honda CRX Help Please!!!

I recently acquired a 1984 Honda Civic CRX.
I've been looking through sites and books like crazy trying to find info on it since this is actually my first Honda.

My main questions are about my engine.
The engine badge says it is an EW1.
It has 12 valves I think also. I removed the valve cover to change the gasket and noticed 2 Intake per cylinder and 1 large and 1 small exhaust valve per cylinder.. so I donno if that is a 16 valve or 12.. looks like 16.. I donno.
It is carburated and the badging on the rear says "1500".

I've been looking around for info on it, but most of what I find is for D15A2 engines... whatever those are.

I might be missing something here, but did Honda switch engine names at sometime from EW1 to D15A2..?.. or am I just totally off my rocker?

Any help would be awsome.. and anything anyone knows that I could do fairly inexpensivly to get the engine to perform alittle better. Not trying to race the thing.. just want to be able to merge onto the I-5 without soiling myself.

Thanks.

try redpepperracing.com.

It is a 12-valve. EW's and D-series motors are different.
