Koss Spark Plugs or simply Plugs work terrific. Imagine foam ear plugs to drown out the background noise with a little whole like a funnel in it with headphone plugs on the other end. All the music goes straight into ur ear canal and you block out a lot of the exhaust/wind noise. Bass response is pretty good too. Plus they're cheap as heck.
Got some tonight from best buy they look the white ones posted but they are sony 39.95 but they are great. They fit in like ear plugs i didn't think it would be good at first but the guy at best buy said i could exchange them within 30 days even if opened so i bought them

. in my personal experience i just wore the regular ipod earphones and put on my helmet and the padding kept them in my ear.

I have the Apple "In-ear" headphones and at $40 I think they're great. Some nice noise cancellation from the design and the sound quality is much better than the regular headphones. They fit really snug..they come with 3 different size attachments (s/m/l).

Shure E3C's. They fit and sound awesome! Well worth the pretty penny.</TD></TR></TABLE>
That would be sweet if it only cost you 1 GB pound. Those look nice and small, I have the sony ones, but my MP3 player was stolen before I had a chance to try them out on my bike.

I'd say that regardless of legality, wearing headphones on a motorcycle is not very safe.
1. if you are just riding around town, the music might drown out the sound of an emergency vehicle siren, or you might not hear someone honking, or hear some other type of threat.
2. if you plan to wear them on the highway, then you risk damaging your hearing. Most old timers and sport touring guys wear ear plugs out on the highway....the wind noise is pretty bad unless youre on a goldwing and has been proven to damage your hearing. Seems that you would have to play the music SO loud to beat out the wind noise that you would be just blasting your poor ears to deaf ! I guess if you got the right kind of in ear plugs that could knock down the wind noise, yet still deliver tunes at a reasonble volume, well, that would rock !

I know in my state stereo headphones are illegal. You must use mono headphones(ones that only go in one ear).

i took a pair of shatty over the ear headphones and took off all the housing and just set them in the spot wheres theres no padding in the helmet (right by the ear) and run the wires under the padding and it works great! i can still hear the music at highway speeds but still can hear ambient noises. and i just take them out if im going on short rides. ok comfort level. try it out.
