Type-S ECU
I ordered a Type-S motor to throw in my 98 SH and it brings the ECU as well. Do i have to use this ECU or could i use the one already in my car? Will in conflic with the immobolizer(sp)?

you could prbly use your stock sh ecu since they're both ATTS. For the immobilizer issue, that shouldn't be a problem since it's not in the ECU but a separate unit.
Yea but the type-s ecu has the proper tune for 11.1 comp ratio and more agressive cams.. i'm not sure if this would make a difference. The type-s ecu probably will also have a govener at 120 or something like that from what ive read thats the JDM ecu cut out.

ecu should advance or retard the timing to comp for the compression and more aggressive cams. i ran my base ecu p5m with my euro-r setup before i got a hondata tuned p28 ecu and it ran fine. to the OP, i'd say it's ok to run the stock ecu with the type-s engine.

Yeah my concern was the 11:1 comp and cams. I dont know if the computer will tune itself out like khalal said. Can anyone very this? As far as the limiter at 120 goes, i dont plan on doing that in the public roads and i sure wont be hitting that as my 1/4 speed so i wont worry about that for now. Unless i decide to run from the cops anytime soon

type-s cams aren't that aggressive. so you think everytime people replace their cams with like s2 or crowers they replace their ecu? i highly doubt that. also, no point in putting those in if your car isn't tuned.

Revi-Ra are you in state that hugs trees and keys humvees? If so you might want to keep your stock ecu and rig the type-s engine with all your stock emmissions gear to try to be legit. Keep us updated cause i'm thinking about doing this swap myself, and i would like to know if you are able to retain stock emmissions equipment for smog testing. And yea i forgot the ecu would componsate for comp/cams.

he won't pass emissions with a type-s engine...esp if it isn't tuned for emissions.

everytime someone gets new cams, pistons, etc they tune to compensate. That is exactly what he is doing by using the type-s ecu...using the proper tune for the engine. The sh ecu will use the right amount of fuel for a h22a4 engine, when it detects the lean condition/knock in the type-s engine due to lack of fuel, it isn't going to add ridic amounts of fuel, it's going to pull timing.

So you are saying is use the Type-S ECU, which is what i was thinking. It only makes since since the computer should already be set up for the higher compression and cams. I live in Florida so no emmisions here. So with the Type-S ECU i will be able to get rid of the EGR and other emmision crap with no prob? I dont know if the Type-S brings all that anyways, guess ill finda out. I would love to get rid of all the emmision stuff if i could. Ill keep everyone updated on this swap.
