Since the "coming into a turn too hot" thread seemed enlightening to a lot, I thought it might be a good idea to start a series of "What would you do" scenarios.
Scenario:
Entering a decreasing radius turn with minimal visibility at the exit. Obviously not full speed due to lack of visibility, but at a semi decent lean angle, then at the end of the turn an obstacle (i.e., water, branch, tire, spaceship) appears.
What would be the best thing to do?

right hand or left hand turn? how many lanes? is there a field on the outside of the turn or is it a cliff?
depending on what the scenario's like i'd either try to stand the bike up more, turn-in-more, or hit it and hope for the best. main thing is to lift myself from the seat and put almost all my weight on the foot pegs

Well there are to many variables. least we say something needs to be done asap, inches/fractions of a second count. say the turn is completely blocked at the place across all lanes, I would stand the bike up and move towards the outside because this is the longest distance(more room to scrub speed). this may include using the rear brake to get the bike sideways in a controlled skid, just depends on the situation. If there is room on the inside I'm going to lay her down as much as possible and apply throttle or lightly trail brake as needed. whatever the situation is I'm putting the nose on the bike into to farthest gap.
Funny I had a situation like this happen when I was younger on PCH in Newport beach. I got caught out looking at chicks and as the road bends @50-60mph(over the speed limit for this road) I came to realize that a line of stopped cars were right in my path... no room to the outside as someone was right beside me and a row of parked beach going cars on the inside, there was no doubt... I was going to be an impact the back end of a vintage Volkswagen. I immediately hit the brakes as I glanced the outside lane, as soon as I realized I couldn't go there I braked to lockup. I know lock up is not the fastest way to stop by any means, but what it did was allow me to float the rear end of my truck side ways giving me a line towards a car gap that existed at the curb even with the back end of said Volkswagen. I was able to float the car at maybe 20 degrees back end out into this gap. when I finally cam to rest the front of my truck was even with the front seats on the Volkswagen the nose of the truck in this tiny gap and the side/*** end of my car inches from the back of the "Peoples car". Funny stuff, but I could see the horror of the owner in the Volkswagen as he was watching this entire scenario through the rear view mirror as this took place. After I stuff my heart back down in my chest I looked over at the poor Volkswagen guy and me was ecstatic... giving me thumbs up and thanking me profusely for the next block and a half as we drove along...
