Default Anybody know about VTR 250s?

I'm looking at buying one. 1990 with less than 10k for $500.

The owner took it apart to install a new regulator/rectifier and lost interest in the middle of it. Does anybody know what he would have taken off to get to this point (besides the gas tank)?

And what could he have screwed up? He said he was no motorcycle expert. I figure for this price if the engine checks out good, it'd be a steal. Let me know what you guys think. TIA

If this is your first bike, I'd say pass on it. It seems to have had a rough life and may present future problems.

As for the R/R, that is typically located in the tail section. I don't think the gas tank needed to be removed.

Well the guy said that he took off the gas tank, so there you have it. He probably messed something up that didn't need to be touched.

Thanks for the advice. Get better soon, sorry to hear some asshat hit you. I'll be waiting for some new sumo track pics.

I'll go back to lurking and you'll see me next season.

Thanks man.

Patience is the key. You don't want your first purchase to be a huge headache - that will turn you off from bikes. See ya around.
