so i was driving, all the sudden speedo dies and like 10 minutes later the check engine comes on... whats the deall? i know the speedo calbe is probably unhooked, but would that cause a Check engine light to come on?

 

check the vss on the tranny the plug might have came off or something

Lol, mine popped out after the tranny swap I did and i threw a CEL. I just stuck it back in and haven't had a problem since, lol.

 

VSS is like code 7 or something so yes if you speedo dosen't work you will get a CEL

 

vss/ speed sensor should be code 17 on obd 0. my light just came on too. check the back of the gauge cluster to make sure its in tight. then check to see if its in securely (held in with a metal clip) to the tranny speedo hole. you could also pull out the speedo cable and check its length to make sure its not broken. there is an article on this in FAQs i believe
