My wife's 98 EX-V6 just started having a problem with a bouncing idle. When in neutral or park the rpm's will jump from 1K to 2K. I cleaned the egr but it's still bouncing. When it's cranked, either cold or warm, it idles at about 750 or 800 like it has since we've owned it. When you start to drive it starts revving up and when it's put in neutral or park it starts bouncing. Turn the ignition off and crank again and it idles at about 750 or 800 until driven again. Does this sound like the IACV? If so, can I just clean it or will it have to be replaced. If someone could be so kind and direct me to a link that has a how-to preffable with pics that would be great.

 

yes just try to clean it and open the top and check if it has come loose or not

 

Okay I'll try cleaning it. Can someone be so kind and tell me exactly where the IACV is located on a '98 EX-V6? A picture would be much appreciated.
