Alot of the cars on the board are starting to look the same. The originality on here seems to be going away. I like clean cars, but I guess I now have to find a rim that no one has to be different. Alot of peeps know what I'm saying. I know we live in different areas and I may not run into any of these cars but if we had a meet you'd see what I'm saying. Its just an observaion that I have made.

 

no its not just u. "JDM" is getting popular. but its better than what we all wanted about 3-4 years ago. luckily i have only had a car since i was 17 and am now 18. so i didn't go through the rice stage. i wised up by the time i was driving.

 

I agree. Seems like everyone gives the same advice when someone asks what they should do to their car, meaning the JDM "clean" look. Makes me think we should tell everyone to get huge wings just so the clean look will stay unique.

 

I feel like sellin my Honda and getting something else because of this.

the only place i see alot of the similar cars is right here on H-T. i see very little of this styling here in az. the streets are still dominated by 4 foot wings and azzteasers.

 

I really could care less about trends and this n that, whatever. I love my Teg, I think it looks good, I think it's pretty quick, I think it's extremely fun to drive, comfortable, utilitarian (hatchback). If everybody got Nissans, I'd still tool around in my Honda.

No, dude. I hate the look of Rotas, spoons, whatever. You see em every where. It has noting to do about money. hell, I barly scrape together enough money to get **** in my car.

 

I see. I personally like them but I'm starting to dislike them because everyone and their gay uncle has a set. I just don't get why knockoffs get a bad rep just because they are cheaper. I'm saving up for some VolK LE37's but if Rota makes a similar wheel for 1/3 of the $$, I'm jumping on it.

 

How does speed equate to a car looking the same? Wise up! All I'm saying it is like everyone has the same outfit on, thats it.

 

It is true while mine and most our (HT) cars look the same there are millions aaaand milllions of rice boys still out there reving their dx at you at the lights with green side markers and two step apr wings.

I wouldnt sweat it . maybe in so cal the clean jdm tiiite boy look is the thing but where im from rice boys still prevail. even at the shows the categories are best undercarriage, best stereo, I.E. most rice

 

I just think the reason you are seeing the same trend is that because people have the same goals, better performance and better looking. The parts pool for our cars is huge and there is a very good chance that most cars are going to have the same speed or show parts especially if the parts have good quality. I tried to be different and as soon as I thought I was, I saw another car that looked just like mine and had the same go-fast goodies as me. I'm just gonna start hammering all the body parts on my car and let it rust.

if you like jdm, go for it w/your ride...and if you like show then go for it...do what you want w/your car...who cares what "tony" from philly thinks about your car? he's not driving it......

Wanna be original? Get a body kit/18's/altezas. This whole JDM crazy is beyond retarded. Spoon this....Recaro this....Mugen this..... Jdm is nothin but high priced parts. Although I have to say this is a honda board and most people on here are into jdm so yes most cars would look alike. Im still into conversions and wild paint jobs. Call me a riceboy if you must but I spend money on my car to be original not to follow a trend

 

yep... all teh 92-95 hatches are dropped with a carbon fiber front lip ( if they can afford ) or a carbon fiber hood and some knockoff amber corners and rims.

all the 96-00 hatch backs are dropped with some sort of " JDM " rims with a stock 99 si lip of some sort.

both cars all have an array of "ADVAN" stickers below some sort of amber sidemarkers

to me.. its all stock cars. nothing impressive but all repetitive.

 

I believe this was stated before but if not, I will say it. As long as we keep force-feeding what <U>we</U> like to see and what looks good, of course all of our cars will look the same, drive the same and perform the same. No one is contributing the the originality if we maintain this constant. If you still think it's an issue of nice cars vs. rice cars, by all mean we are original yet we are not among the members here at Honda-Tech.
