Default Magnaflow exhaust for LX

I like the sound of the Magnaflow exhaust, but is it just all sound? Does it add any HP to the car? Do you think it would be a good decision to go with this exhaust or wait for other ones to come out for the FG1? I would like to get a Greddy Evo2, but sadly, it's only for the Si.

i think that magnaflow boasts something like 13hp 10lbs/ft, whether thats tru or not idk but it sounds fishy. i went with a madrel bent custom 2 1/4" catback at the local shop and i love it. best of luck

Did you happen to dyno before and after? I'm curious to know if this car gets any more hp/tq from exhaust.

well, i dont remember where i read the dyno online somewhere. im sure the r18 gains something with an exhaust. and although i dont have a magnaflow i have custom piping from the headers down. and i do feel a difference. i havent had it dynoed yet tho but ill try to send some pics after i get out of work.

The old 1.7L gained a 5HP and 4ft-lb gain. I would expect a little better result from the new Magnaflow's for the 1.8L. I would venture to guess 7-10HP and probably 5-8ft-lb. I wouldn't suspect that the HP gain would be over 11 or 12 HP.

About how much did that run you (out the door)?

Also let us know how the pulleys work out for you

Yea that is becoming the new thing with honda not just on the civics either, this integrated exhaust manifold thing seems to be the idea for the future, but I have had one apart and there is a lot of room to open up the head on the port that goes into the cat.

as far as the magnaflow exhaust I love it, it sounds really nice, really throaty, notice hp difference mostly on the freeway.

I've listened to the two sound clips on the Magnaflow site a number times and I still can't make up my mind.

For me, buying an exhaust system is like getting married.......you better be darn sure that you're making the right choice, because you're going to have to live with it/her for some time.....or you'll pay a big price for your mistake. In my case, I'm still married to same girl after 15 years, but I can't say that I've that good of a record on the exhaust system front........I've gone through a few very ugly exhaust system divorces over the years.

How does the Magnaflow sound in the 3k to 4k RPM range out on the open road, any drone in the cabin?

It sounds really good around 3-4k and then tones down and is fairly quiet at high rpms, so its not ringing in your ears on the freeway, the intake really takes over

Yea 2.5 is a good size, I have seen a lot of these posts on here talking about 2 3.4 and 3 inch piping which is way to big resulting in massive back pressure loss and low end power loss.
But i love my magna flow not a huge coffee can either which is nice, and 2 inch piping which i think is ideal, good low and high end.
