Power Steering Help
Well i finally got my header polished and installed, as well as my new ac compressor. I was already workin under the hood so i decided to install my powersteering belt, and fluid. I pour the fluid in- about half full of the resivoir, and install the belt and tighten it up a bit, still a lil slack though. I turn on the car, everythings turning fine- after a while i start to smell some burning so i shut the car down immediately. I get out of the drivers seat and the powersteering fluid is coming out of the resivoir *had the cap on* and the pump is burning hot? I checked all the bolts, made sure they were tight, i cant figure this out. I will more than likely remove it- but im just curious as to what happened. Thanx
o...
F**K i knew i was forgetting something...you think if it cools down a bit- and i do this, it should work fine?...god dude i feel like a freakin idiot- im going to crawl under a rock with my flame suit on laterz.

you may have burnt out the pump, but yeah, just go back and do that when it cools down. move it side to side and fill as necessary, you're gonna want to do it a bit, you're basically bleeding the fluid and pumping out all the air
dont tell me the pump may have burnt out
...damnittttt. Well im going to try it again in a bit- have to take off to school. Is there any way i can tell the pump is burnt out? thanx

so you took PS out (not entirely, just took the belt off) and now you want it back?
thats the first time i've ever heard anyone doing that. mostly everyoen that removes PS loves the way it feels.

i bought the car with the belt off, so i didn't know how it drove with powersteering. When i bought the car the guy gave me the belt, and a lot of powersteering fluid incase i wanted it back. When i was installing my ac compressor, and reinstalling my polished header- i thought, im already under the hood might as well put it on. Only to find out it the pump has a leak- so i took it off. Its not hard to drive, i just wanted to see how it felt, couldn't hurt.
