Default A few questions bout Junkyard parts

I was at a junkyard the other day looking for some parts and i came across a light blue civic hatch. The front fenders are MINT! they want 35 a peice for them, thats a good price right? They want 50 bucks for the carpet which is in excellent coniditon.. is this a good value?

I think you can get new fenders for $40 online, but highly doubt that includes shipping. I would definitely buy the carpet for $50 if its in excellent condition. Thats is a good price for the carpet.

aftermarket fitment is not perfect and YES the metal is way thinner than oem.
So no leaning on the car! $35 for some mint oem used fenders is a steal! Considering we get at least $100 each for them. For mint ones that is.

At a local junkyard they told me I could get the full interior out of a hatch for 80 bucks. It is a dark grey hatch with grey interior. I was thinking about snatching that up, and since we just had our first rain of the summer maybe the price went down?

I don't know what the hell kind of junk yards you guys have, but around here you are lucky to find any car older than 10 years old. If it is old AND a honda, you pay out the *** for parts... $27 for a fender??? you can't get a clock for $27 around here.

Thats sucks for some of you guys. The junkyard I go to is very cheap. Motors only cost $100 and you can get a headlight for like $15 bucks. Yes, they have hondas but people rape them so fast when they come in. Its like they can smell them coming or someting.

I work at one of the biggest recylers for Honda and Acura's on the west coast. The prices stated above are ridiculos. They must be crappy stuff. You do get what you pay for. A mint oem fender that is insurance quality is worth $100. Insurance quality carpet is worth at least $75. $200 for a headlight is crazy! We get about $75-$100. Honeslty I dont see how these people even stay in buisness selling stuff that cheap.

i paid 50 bucks for both the left and right headlight, if you are charging that much YOU SHOULD BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS, I hate you overpriced junkyards, as they are listed as junk its rediculous to charge that much.. Keep in mind later i bought brand new never used headlight for 100 bucks and never fenders but have seen brand new for 40 bucks... Goes to state you are a HIGHLY over priced yard and probably wasnt a good idea to advertise on here

HAP Recycling is a very good operation (as is their I'm assuming brother company TAP Recycling). They are a specialty yard able to provide whatever you need honda-wise, which is more than I can say for any yards I have around my area (and it sounds like the same story for most of you guys). Yeah youre going to pay more, but still. They store it, dismantle it, index it, answer your phone calls and emails, and ship it to you. I'll pay more for that.

Yards that charge you obscene amounts for parts need to not have your business.

When ebay and your local yards fail you, places like HAP are a god-send.

U-pull-its are your friend. They are much cheaper than regular yards. The local one here only charges $70 for motor, $50 for trans, $15 for perfect fenders. Hondas get stripped quick though, you have to get to them within a week of their arrival to get anything remotely usable.

dear phil. Im not advertising. Im telling it like it is. $100 for a headlamp yeah maybe aftermarket. Not OEM. Just because you are use to paying street prices for stuff that is stolen does not mean that our prices over priced. That is what they are worth in the real world. We dont deal w/ little street racers, we deal w/ bodyshops and insurance companys. No disrespect. And by the way we do not sell junk we leave that to the pick n pull yards.

Just a heads up, that is a VERY uncool thing to say. You're basically implying that most of us are riding around with stolen parts when we are'nt. ALot of us have good friends, or hook-ups at local yards.

For future reference, "thief, stolen, robbed, vandalized, totaled, nissan, crook, and street racing" are the most unpopular words on this forum. Please be more careful in the way you adress us.

I'm being polite, where most of the folks are going to tell you to die in a firey car wreck.
