will fitting type s pistons on an h22a1 rod weaken the rod?
this is pressuming that the diameter of the a1 needs to be (machined) larger to accept the floating wrist pin setup of the type s piston.
some have claimed that they can be pressed in without modifing the a1 rod.
Been searching the archives and am fishing for finer details. Thanks in advance fellas.

someone that has actually machined them might be able to chime in on this, but I believe the pin journal is pressed in and is not actually part of the rod, thus machining it would not change its structural integrity, that might be some other rods though so hopefully someone will chime in and shed some light on that

Material is cut out of the rod to install bushings, so it could slightly weaken it for high RPM use. If you are worried about it, I have heard of people using the pressed-pin rods directly with floating pins, without installing bushings. After the old pins are pressed out, lightly hone the pin bore to get a nice finish, check clearances, and go. If the pin happens to sieze in the rod, then it's the same as having it pressed.
Eagle rods are not too expensive these days, and you could probably find a used set of A4 rods (that already have bushings) too; what's your budget? Good luck.

out of personal experience i know that the rod will be weakend for high rpm's. i recently had to swap out my rods for eagles due to a knock from my block. but the stock rods did last me about 10k miles of hard pushing
