b16 head or gsr head
i have a 96 gsr my buddy of mine has a 2000 si b16 head he said that it flow better? can i get more ponies from the b16 head? if it doesnt should i swap it for mines and what kind of set up should i have?
the 2000si head is identical to the type r head sans the cams and valves...it will flow better.....the main diff is the type r head was hand ported and polished but the 5000 series head(aka b16 from 2000si) is damn close......
if you want the "poor man's type-r" then go with the b16 head and get it pnp and you'll have a similar b18c5 head, with ITR valvetrain of course. ITR tb, im...etc. Since you already have a gsr just do the same thing pnp, upgrade the valvetrain and that gsr head will have more efficiency and air flow then the b16. Just my 02.
keep your stock head if youre going to do a port and polish
the stock b16 head will flow better than a stock gsr head, but the gsr head flows more volume
as soon as you port the gsr head it will flow better and flow more volume than a stock b16 head
