too long to warm up car?
Okay so my ultra high mileage civic takes quite a while to heat up and I just wanted to ask ppl here if they've had similar experiences with high mileage engines. EVERY single honda that I've owned up to this date takes on average less than 5 minutes to get to operating temperature when driving in morning traffic.
My D15 with 300, 000+ km's takes like 10 minutes of continuous driving to achieve operating temps.
Does it take a worn motor longer to heat up than a motor with half the mileage?
If not then I will go any buy a new thermostat tommorrow.
thanks

Okay so its about 40F outside right now and I took the car for a drive using my daily route to work. After 8 minutes or so of driving the needle went to the right spot that it is supposed to be at and there was heat. Certainly warm but not burning hot like my Si and my Type R 's heater. I proceeded to turn around and drive home and as I stepped hard on the gas to get up the hill the temp needle dropped to like the 1/4 marker and then gradually went back up. I pull up into my driveway and feel the upper rad hose. Its very warm but not hot (this is well after 15 minutes of highway driving). The lower hose is barely warm/cold.
Heater hoses are very warm like the upper rad hose.
Coolant and water pump are new and the coolant is mixed properly with genuine honda coolant.
If the thermostat were stuck partially open then wouldn't the upper rad hose not feel warm at all and I would get hardly any heat?
I want to fix the t-stat b/c of emissions and b/c I'm in Canada and when the winters come they can occasionally get unbearably cold.
