Default Running fluidampr pulley, Yay or Nay on balancer shafts?

I am deciding whether or not to run my balance shafts in conjunction with a Fluidampr pulley.

Freeing up couple of HP isn't really worth it for me since I am turbo'd and can make that power by uping boost, but being able to rev up a tad bit quicker does give me an incentive to run without the shafts. That and also free'ing up some driveline drag is also nice.

My intention for the fluidampr is obviously to prolong the life of my bearings and keeping everything running healthy for as long as possible.

I have also heard rumors that the shafts purpose was to cancel out irritating cabin vibrations rather then engine harmonics. Any truth in this?

So with that in mind, anyone with expriences? Comments?

I have run without mine and I didn't mind the little extra vibration. It really wasn't that bad. Are you using stock mounts? Inserts? Aftermarket mounts will dramatically increase the amount you feel it over stock. I ran polyfilled OEM mounts. I say ELIMINATE. There pointless!

Yea it seems like the increased virbations don't bother many people. I am not really concerned with cabin vibrations, I'm just worried about bearing clearances over time.

Basically, what I wanted to know is if the shafts purpose was to reduce engine harmonics or just cabin vibrations?

And if the shafts' job were to reduce engine harmonics, will the fluidampr alone be able to handle it all by itself?

I have the Innovative mounts so I'm sure the increased vibrations will be even more noticeable.

Also, to note, I have searched this topic, but nothing really substantial or an answer to end all answers. Especially with the fluidampr added to the mix

hey guys I actually just installed a fluidamper today. the part looks good but its sooo freakin close to the frame... i'm talkin 1/8". I dont think it would go on with the motor in there unless you could drop that side of the engine real low to get it on. It made putting the motor in a bitch with it on there too. you'll definately need the mounts as you wont want to hit a bump and jar your motor into the frame of your car.

i can post up a pic tomorrow if anybody wants to see it.

A picture would be very helpful. Do you suggest putting the fluidampr before or after the engines put in?

I thought about this when I saw the size of the damper, but thought there would be enough clearance.

yeah, I'm saying you HAVE TO put it on before dropping the motor in and even then its stilla bitch to situate it without banging it around too much.

I'll take a pic when I get home in the morning

Any other thoughts? Would love to get some opinions from our engine builders too.

heres a few pics, theyre a little dark but you get the idea.

on fluidampers website the pulley for an h22 isnt supposed to be underdrive, but it is... the part #'s match so i'm guessing that they're website is just incorrect.

the belt that i used is a Gates #K050330

from what ive experienced is that my car has LESS vibration with the balance shafts out of the motor..

i like the car better the way i have built it over OEM a lot more..

OEM motor 60k miles ive had Solid mounts with turbo kit.. car vibrated like crap.. i hated it at idle..

Built motor 90k miles on Chassis , solid mounts, New turbo setup, Car idles with no vibrations, car feels wonderful at all RPM's

love it

Everything ive experienced is VERY contradictory to everything ive Read on the forums

Thanks for the pics, it seems like you ran yours without the balancer shafts as well. Comments?

I am running an OEM motor no build at all. And I felt the vibrations. Like I said though it isn't terrible, and I really don't mind at all.

In Rosko and Mykizism cases they have built and balanced bottom ends there is probably less vibration than factory condition.

do you feel less vibration in the cabin? Does the engine run smoother and rev any quicket than the factory pully?also is it a underdrive pully?
