600cc or 1000cc?
ok guys.. i have been riding for a few years now on my 1991 zx600. i bought it for a cheapo learners bike... i have also been riding my bro's gs 1300. compaired to my 600 that thing is kick *** fast... but anyways to my question. is it worth spending the extra money on a 1000cc bike.. am i going to be disappointed with a newer 600 bike,( as far as performance goes)? i know that the newer 600's are half the wait as my bike now and have a little more power, but is that going to make that big of a deal? i think i want to get a 1000 so i can keep up with my bro, but i would like to here some input..... as far as bike go i am thinking of either 01 cbr 929 or 01 r1... same thing with the 600.... cbr600rr or an early 2000 r6... any imput would be great!

Au contraire.. you will be happier with the 1000cc because if you don't buy the 1K, you'll always have that buyer's remorse eating away at you.

I love my 600rr, no remorse at all. That bike has more power than I'll ever use.

I think it really depends on your mindset... I would love a new 1k, but I would also love a new .6k, they are both extremely awesome machines with more capability than 90% or so of the riders can give it. If your asking other how you would feel with each, you may be more happy with a 600. Small and lite, agile and very fast. If you plan on going longer distances and you have a need for mind altering speed, then the new generation 1000cc bikes are your ticket. remember the 600 is more than a match for most bikes at the club level on the modern tracks and in the mountains, so what your getting with the 1 liter is speed... outright outrageous speed. The 600 has more than enough speed to kill you and all your friends, so do you NEED a 1000cc motorcycle with it's increased value at time of purchase and the higher levels of maintenance... you tell us

I think your already making a bad decision for even thinking this. Trying to "keep up" with somebody else almost always leads to trouble.
I would go for the 600. I have a liter bike (although I'm missing two cylinders
), sometimes I feel like I could actually use less power. I need to get my hands on a 800-850 cc twin. I can't imagine what a I4 liter bike would be like.

wise words... you young guys that want to live long and fruitful lives, don't get caught up in a **** fest. BIGGER IS NOT BETTA, well maybe for her, but not in motorcycles.
you have to be mature and match your skills to your machine, I mean whats the point of having a bike that will do 180 mph if you **** you diapers at 140?

1000cc bikes are for guys/girls with small dicks. (no offense to anyone on here with a 1000cc), but to be brutally honest. you will never and i repeat NEVER need and/or use that much HP street riding or canyon riding. now if you plan on track riding, that a whole different debate for another time.

the 600rr is more "track-ready" and the f4i is more "street friendly."
the seating position on the f4i is much less aggressive, the suspension is also generally more comfortable (both have 2way adjustable front and rear shocks) and has a wider powerband. the 6rr has inverted forks, more peak hp, and is a tad bit lighter.
there are other differences, but for most riders not in AMA, MotoGP, they are veryyyyy subtle when it comes to performance.
a current 600 would definitely hold its own against an early 2000's 1000. with middleweights like the kawi 636 making 120-ish whp mostly stock (in some freakish instances) it's way more power than most people will ever need. I don't feel like i need more power out of my f4i, but then again i haven't ridden with anybody with a 1000.
Personally, i'd go for the 600...

I have a 04' R6 and I love it. My buddies ride GSXR 1000's and R1's, but seriously how fast can you really go in the city. I mean don't get me wrong the 1000's are obviously faster, but a newer 600 will keep up too. Its all on the rider. Plus 600's are cheaper on insurance. Hope that helps.

learn to out ride him and then ther gap left make up for in brute speed.
if he has a GS13, nearly any new 600 sportbike will wax it, especially when cornering is involved. just dont do any long drags. actually, i dont htink those should be a problem either.

I want the torque of the 1000. I have a 600 now and don't use its full potential. The reason i'd buy a 1k liter bike is the styling. Plus i take long trips...shoot...i took my GSXR 600 on a 2k mile trip. Busa would have been more comfortable
indeed. i have a 06 600rr, and i rode my friends 06 R1 the other day, and its WAY too fast for me, and its power pretty much wont be tapped on the streets. the R1 is wayyy faster, but im more than happy with my 600... and i can turn.

well then why would you need something bigger? the day you crash your bike because you took the bike past its limits, is the day you need to trade it for a 1k.
(although the smarter ones know thats not going to happen because if you are skilled enough to ride a modern SS to its limits, you will also be skilled enough to know where those limits are and how not to stretch the bike past them.)

Meaning I don't ride it on the track...i mean yeah everyone rips on it and takes it to red line...but i do more daily riding and longer trips. My post above will answer the rest of your question.
hey thanks for all the input!!! now i have narrowed it down to a 600cc... are there any flaws i might want to look out for... or does anyone know someone who has one forsale?
Thanks guys/gales!

Sometimes I meet some dumb *** 1000cc people and they tell me "hey buddy, time to move on to 1000c now." I tell them I kick their asses in twisties. the newer 600 bikes are amazing.. r6 and the double rr and gsxr are all fast IMO..
I can give you some review for the r6, you said you were into 2000 r6 right?
2000 r6 is amazing, with nice *** style compare to other model with the age. But only bad thing is its a carb.. I had a problem with carb and **** was pain in the ***.
I also had 600rr.. Its amazing machine.. very balanced with suspension and power..
my neighbor has the new 06 r6.. its my favorite bike now..
gsxr are nice...
even though I went through so many bikes, I never thought about changing into 1000cc.. well not yet.... When you go to the track, you will see people with ninja 250 draggin their toe hils and burning all 600cc and 1000cc....
hope that helped.
