been looking on the market forever now for a QUIET and good flowing 2.5 exhaust that sounds good without the rasp.... the closest thing i have found so far is the greddy Evo2 exhaust.... it has the biggest piping out of all the other systems and prolly has the best sound..... just loud. so has anyone found a good 2.5 inch system that sounds good?? i know alot of people around here are gonna tell me get a custom exhaust setup but i already have one and have dumped maybe 500 or 600 into it with out the results i want! so i just want one exhaust pre-done that i dont have to deal with
It's a little tough to get rid of all the raspiness from a big cam'd 4 cyl. But use of a cat and multiple resonators plus a muffler is your best bet. The best bolt on 2-1/2" exhaust, I feel, is the T1R. You can contact Mike at IPS Racing for that, but it is loud because the single resonator and muffler are short.
There's another 2-1/2" exhaust offered that I've seen but they use a floating flange at the cat joint and this requires the tubing to be crimped down to around 2-1/4" OD and then it's flared around the flange. This isn't good since it creates a bottleneck.
It looks similar to this.

Here's a custom 2-1/2" system I just built for my EG. It has a cat, 22" resonator, plus a custom 9" resonator plus an offset muffler.

And that even has a short piece of raspiness to it on the dyno, but you really don't hear it while driving.
The short answer, the best sounding exhausts are custom.

ya that rasp drives me CRAZY the twin loop i have on there sounds nice but it just hangs too low and the exhaust shops around here wont work on my car w/o cat =/ so it makes it more complicated. it does have a rasp from 3ish to 4
I have a full T1R exhaust and I love the sound, no rasp at all. I used to have the Spoon N-1, that sounded really good also but it's not quite a true 2.5.....but it's damn close.
