Wheel spacers? anyone use them here?
anyone use wheel spacers here? if so how are they.? i heard that there not safe or something. I need some spacers to clear my brakes, but a bit hesistant about using them.
I'm running 10mm spacer in front and 4mm in the rear. Make sure the spacers have a "lip" so that the wheel can rest on the hub, not relying on the studs to hold up the wheels.
"The wheel/hub interface is designed as a "bolted" joint. This means the bolts provide the compression required to create enough friction between the back of the wheel and the hub to tranfer the load. The lip is there only to help align the wheel quickly, it does not support the weight of the vehicle and is not nessary. Pure "shear type" connections would require a tight fitting hole and a solid shank on the bolt portion for proper bearing to transfer the load. In a "bolted" joint like the wheel/tire connection and flywheel/crankshaft end connection, the "clamping" force provided by proper torque in the bolts is very important to ensure the two surfaces don't slip. Both under and over torquing the bolts could lead to an overstress situation in the bolt's threaded portion and lead to eventual failure."

What brand spacers are you running? How much do they run? I need to get 8mm spacers for my calipers, can you help me out?

The lip is very important as it centers the wheel. If there's no lip, the wheel might not be spinning about the center of the hub.
