Default Faster than my accord? Also Warranty Questions!

I am looking into getting a new honda, and I have been looking around, and I really like the 03-05 civic coupes. How are these compared to my 95 accord in relation to gas milege, horsepower, reliabilty? Obviously since its newer it will be more reliable, but in the long run, I need it to last at least 5-10 years.

The one I saw on autotrader was a 04 LX coupe with 27k miles for 13k, it was at a dealership, so I am sure I could talk them down to 11500 or less.

Also I have a questiona bout warrantys, does honda offer a warranty on used cars if I got it from the dealer?

Gas mileage for me averages about 30-35 mpg highway, which is where most of my miles come from.

The d17a1 (non-ex, non-VTEC) puts out 117hp.

The d17a2 (EX VTEC) puts out 127hp.

As a solid daily driver, you really cant go wrong with an EM2 man. It is a solid DD platform, with potential to be a quick, agile car.

Milk that dealership for every penny. Plus, anything they tell you, get it in writing.

Honda usually will not offer a factory warranty after the 3yr/36,000 warranty it comes with. But you can usually always purchase a used car warranty where you buy your car.

So it does come with a 3yr/36000mile warranty, even used?

And 30-35 is much better than the 23-28 I am getting right now.

Once I get the car I plan on making it a litte faster, possible turbo it depending on if I get a stick shift.

No. That is a honda factory warranty when purchased new.

Like I mentioned before, the EM2 has good potential, with capabilities of 11-12 second 1/4 miles with a stout K series motor. Or you can turbo up to about 200whp on the D17ax and be done with it. It just depends on your personal tastes and what you actually want to do with the car.

Got my 01 EM2 EX for about twelve from a dealer, it was a honda certified used car so it came with a 7 year warrenty from original date of purchase. so I've got about a year left on that. It rides so nice, and is easy to do simple mods on too. Gas milage is pretty amazing, if you're not wide open like me

Dont waste ur time with any auto's. Not only are they slow, but they are also notorious for being honda's worst tranny's.

After that, an 03 Em2 is probably the best car u can get IMO. I like the 01-03 style better than 04-05 ( SORRY 04-05 GUYS) plus with LX u get all the power options, plus an OEM rear sway bar that is easily upgradeable.

The only options the LX doesnt come with that matter are, power sunroof and it has a d17a1 apposed to the d17a2.

d17a1 = non-vtec
d17a2 = vtec.

not all dealerships are the same, so you may get good deal on the warrenty. sometimes the used car warrenty is better then the new car warrenty.

a few years back i got a used accord ex and they offered me quite the deal on the warrenty. i was like 7 year 100,000 mile from the date purchased, and the car already had like 34k. imo thats not bad.

well that car dosent matter anymore, totaled it 3 weeks after i got it. its ok cuz it led me into buying my em2.

its a stealership so understand that all they want is your $$. like it was mentioned before just talked them down and get everything in writing.

What kind of question is that? Too general of a question, by far. You need to be much more specific. If you're referring to street racing, than I wouldn't have a clue (because I find street racing rather adolescent). but, if you're referring to stability and actual track performance, you might find better handling with the Civic, where as the TC would have a better straight line performance.

The civic is not fast. Not at all. It does have potential with the K series route, but it costs a lot, probably over half the value of the car.

On the bench, the Civic is slower than the tC. Under normal driving conditions it will feel slower as wee b/c of the lower tq. If you want a fast car out of the box, don't get the Civic. However, the pros of this car are plentiful (mpg, handling, low mait $$, int room, comfort, quality, ect.)

If you want a fast Honda hatch, RSX-S or new Si.
