UPDATE ON PAGE 3 WITH FINISHED PRODUCT
PRETTY MUCH IGNORE WHAT'S ON THIS PAGE AND GO TO PAGE 3
OK, here's a quick little write up.
I need to mention that I have a CARBON FIBER hood, not a stock hood. I don't think these are strong enough for a stock Prelude hood. The Accord dampers might be though.
There may or may not be other styles of hood damper that fit better, but I just took a chance and got the 96-00 Civic 4-door hood dampers from ebay. The brand was Godspeed and they were about $50.
Pretty good quality overall.
The mods I had to do to make this fit on my Prelude were these:
-The supplied threaded rod was too short, so I got some 3" 12mm bolts from Home Depot with a M8 thread just like the supplied threaded rod. I cut the heads off with my angle grinder and they work great.
-The supplied bracket to bolt the damper to the hood obviously won't fit, but if you look at it you can see what needs to be cut.

Other than this it was bolt it.

The dampers hold the hood open perfectly and let it down really easy. Plus it makes a cool psshhhh sound when you open the hood.

I believe the seller was SakuraIndustry. I bet the Accords would work better.

Your the man! I was looking into these a while back and there is a seller on here that charges like $120 but I wasn't gonna spend that kind of money. This I will do though. Thanks!

Couldn't get the weight of a Civic hood, but a '98 Integra stock hood weighs 32lbs, and a stock 4th gen hood weighs 42lbs, so perhaps this kit would work with the stock hood. It's also the same dampers they package with the RSX kit (so it should lift 30ish lbs). I couldn't find the similar style kit for Accords (didn't have that bolt piece you replaced)
dude you did it again.. i was hoping i'd get to post this one up but you beat me to it.. where did you order you dampers
never mind i should have read more carefully.. but there was someone selling dampers on here designed for preludes.. i'll post link when i find it

Just curious... but there are no problems with the hood closing? I'm guessing no... but I can't see how the damper's wont get in the way with the hood closing?
