Well this seems to be a scantly discussed topic. I searched and got 2 results woo! So i was hoping to get some more info.
For those of you who dont know brake boosting is using the brake pedal or ebrake to create an artificial load on the engine when rolling, this allows you to spool the turbo without going rediculously fast. This is good for rolling launches and whatnot, helps ya to get that lil extra jump (or in some cases, big extra jump
)
The flip side of this is that your imposing artificial load on the engine and so egt's may start getting hto in a hurry and there is no real way to tell when is "too much" lest u got an egt gauge.
So i was hoping to get some input on this... do you brake boost? For how long before letting off? Do you spool the turbo all the way or just get it started? Is brake boosting bad for an engine? how bad? is there any safe way to brake boost or are you pretty much playing with the life of your engine brake boosting?
hope to get some good input....

I have done it, i dont like to, it feels like i am doing something terribly wrong for some reason. Also i hit full boost in my car around or before 3500rpm's so its kinda pointless for me. But once i switch to something larger i will do it. I have been in a couple very large single turbo cars in the past and it almost just seems like a good down shift will do the trick. As for launching a car Anti-lag is amazing

yeah i tried it like twice and i also felt like i was doing somethin wrong to the car, cause i mean your like braking and gassing just doesnt feel right lol.
I have a t3/t4 turbo so it does help spool it but also i wouldnt think a good downshift would do it as well.
Of course then there are people who swear by brake boosting so i was hoping to see what they have to say... yeah wish i had a s300 so i could antilag

can you brake boost from a stop as well? I know you can do it from a roll but i never tried from a stop... i would assume it works the same way.
computer throttle release? pshhh thats fer n00bs

doesnt that depend on what 2step? i have hondata and heard the 2step sucks cause its just a fuel cut (or maybe its spark) or something so its not very effective

with AEM EMS and my stwo step set at 4000 and ignition retard starting at 3000, i make 15 lbs in about 5 seconds...its actually kinda fun

lucky bastard i know hondata is nothing like that, all you do is set what rpm u want it to bounce at and i think it just cuts fuel or spark maybe both. I heard AEM and MSD 2step is far better

Uberdata 1.7 here.
hondata does fuel cut like a stock ecu would do.
msd does ignition cutoff
crome/uberdata/hondata does fuel cutoff
2step usually means you can set 2 rpm limits
3step = 3 rpm limits.
and ignition cutoff obviously cuts spark but still supplies fuel...
fuel cutoff cuts fuel (obvious again)... what i noticed with uberdata/crome is that my wideband displays LEAN when its bouncing off the preset cutoff rpm. cant say thats a great thing if you're building a few psi while its displaying LEAN.

I brake boost only when street tuning. I find it a lot easier to get into selected areas of the map and to hold it there consitantly. Otherwise, t3/t4 single cam, i make 15psi before 4000.... so i've never really found it helpful. I can see at the track on slicks maybe, but if i just rev up the engine to around 3-4 and take off hard i don't have any bog issues.
It would be nice if i felt my motor would take the abuse to use it like rally cars do, for road racing. I don't typicaly drop down into the lowest gear out of the corners, figure not really racing, just out doing lapping days, and no need to kill my car. But those damned evos and wrx's, build boost soo quick, plus allwheeldrive. I just think it'd be nice if my boost stayed up there when i was braking, and then boom back to the throttle instant boost.... guess i could try brake boosting there...

we used to use the converter on the t types. got 7 psi on a launch, and if i had the brakes adjusted tight, we could launch 15 psi off the parking brake.
not really much different than anti lag, with the exception, you are using the tranny/ brakes to load the engine.
as for how i launch mine, it is preloaded, parking brake grabbed, and 8200.
nice. no anti lag, yet, just an msd 2 step and i get 7-8 psi on t3t67ho.

i brake boost when racing somethig big like a cobra. if i dont do it, they will get me from my turbo lag. im running a sc61.
from a dig, i use neptune 3step. i can build 16psi at 7000rpm

My S300 you can add fuel and pull timing to spool the turbo.
