Default Removing carpet - A lot louder?

My carpet is completely trashed in my civic. I was gonna remove it, remove the sound deadening material, then sand the interior clean and lay down a coat of eastwood rust encapsulating basecoat then some rubberized undercoat, then lay down a brand new stock carpet...

But while I'm in the process of that, I'll have no carpet in my civic. How much louder is it gonna be in my civic until I put my carpet back in?

It won't be much louder with the carpet out of it...it's when you start scraping the sound deadening material out of it where you'll really notice it.

I didn't notice any sound when I drove for like a month with out carpet. It was eaiser to use the clutch. My new carpet gets in the way sometimes. However I did notice a smell of gas a little more. It would probably be a good idea to leave some of the carped under the shifter consol, just to block some of the smells from coming in.

Do you think rubberized undercoat would provide the same kind of sound deadening in place of all that gunk?

Honestly I'd doubt it.

use that stuff or dnyamat and get a replacement carpet kit.

With out it yea it'll be rattley and no fun, but i enjoy speed and semi comfort.

if you are going to just put something like undercoating back on, why even remove the sound deadening and paint? just replace the carpet and keep everything else as it is.

greg, who is trying to understand that not everyone likes a gutted crx, but can't.

Uh, I don't plan on gutting my car and making it loud and uncomfortable. Like I original posted, I plan to reinstall the carpet, just trying to find out how it'll be in the meantime.

I don't find it sissy to want a car that my friends and family enjoy riding in.

A friend of mine that does stereo instillation uses a sound deadening mat material from Lowe's. He said it does the same job at a fraction of the price.
