Loud rattle, especially when turning. Bad shock absorber?
I have had a rattle coming from the front right of my car for about 8 months now but recently it is getting really bad. It sounds like something is loose or bouncing back and forth while accelerating. I'm thinking it is either a bad shock (I hope) or a bad motor mount. When I drive on grass (or bumpy roads) the noise vibrates almost as fast as a drumroll.
I drove my car in the grass while my gf sat in the passenger side to listen. She said is coming from the right side, but she can't tell if it's far enough to the side to be the strut. Then I had her drive it with the hood open and I ran next to it, listening. I only heard the sound a couple times very quietly. She said it was as loud as ever inside. This lead me to think it's something in the dash, but when I pound my palm on the dash, it sounds secure.
Any ideas what this could be? Thanks guys.
