D16Y8, 1 cylinder not working
My car seemed like misfiring so I went to my mechanic, he took a look and said that one of the cylinders is not working and he said "you have to change the head because I have already ported it 7 months ago for you and added 2 head gaskets, how many should I add now 4?"
What does the cylinder have to do with changing the head?
I will appreciate any help

If the surface on your head is warped and isn't seating properly on the block you could be losing compression on that cylinder.

I see, when he pulled out the spark plug wires one by one the engine was shacking until he removed the last wire and nothing happened, and he said the cylinder is not working.

I dunno how!

Have you already checked the plug and injector?</TD></TR></TABLE>
The head was warped before and I shaved it and added 2 layers of head gaskets.
Is there any chance to shave it again? My mechanic said I have to change the whole head!
I checked the plugs but didnt check the injector. how can I check it?

Wow, thats crazy warped. He may be right. Y8 heads are reasonably cheap at least.

Always try the easy, simple and obvious things first.
Check the spark plug by swapping it with one from another cylinder.
Check the resistance of the spark plug wire and of the fuel injector using a multimeter.
Check your cap and rotor and make sure your contacts are not shot.
Do a compression test like stated before, which simply involves removing a spark plug, screwing the compression tester into the hole for the plug, starting the car, and reading the gauge.
Then if it still does not work try changing your ignition control module. Mine went bad on me, and for the longest time I thought it was the injector giving me problems. Its a small, flat, rectangular piece inside your distributor with three contacts on it.
