Its the rear piece that goes behind the seats.

I just wanted to know if I can leave it out, and still bolt up my seats and center piece just fine.

i think you need it for seats... but if you dont want seats..then toss it.

only thing is.. i would wonder what that would do for structural rigidity.. it is called a crossmember for that matter

you dont need it for the seats but it used to stiff the frame a lil bit so i don't thing you should remove it, maybe you can replace it with some kind of better looking stiffer aftermarket bar.
this bar is where the 4WS ecu is mounted too (if you have a 4WS lude)

You don't have to have it, but I would leave it there. It stiffens your chassis.

DO NOT THROW IT AWAY!!!!! I've read something a while ago on this crossmember being removed and the results were not what you would call desireable, if I remember right. I say leave it.

lol.. can you show us this post. I've had mine out for years going on 5 now. I never noticed a difference with it out or in the car.. it might keep the frame some what stiff. but in all actuality why don't you just buy a rear aftermarket cross member support if your want a stiffer frame. you don't need it.

the ones in my 93 accord didnt have much to them, i could bend them over my knee, so if they bend under maybe 100 lbs of pressure from me, i dont think theyre doing much with the 1000s of lbs of stress on the body....

overinflating the tires by 1 psi will make handling worse than leaving those out

you can pretty much say the same for the entire car's body panels if you cut them apart piece by piece, but as a whole assembly, i'd like to see you bend a car on your knee.

Now I am not saying that this piece is needed for sure but,

you would be surprised at how much strength could be lost in a chassis from one piece that size.

Sometimes the smallest of things can play a big role in structural integrity. Think about it. When it comes to structural design of thinks such as cars or buildings or whatever small things like that Can or Could make a huge differense in the strength of the chassis.

One of the above posters said he had been driving without his for 5 yrs. And thats cool, but has he slid into a ditch? Or slid into a curb? Or hit a rea big pothole? Any one of these things could possibly cause his entire unibody to twist with that part gone. And then again maybe it is a completely useless CROSSMEMBER that honda added just to mount the 4ws CPU to. You never know.

I believe that crossmember is only there in the 92-93. didn't they change the 94-96 by having both seats fold down so it eliminated that rear seatsupport. I know in the 97+ they don't even have that.. they have a metal bar that goes underneath the back seat across the body..

and no to sliding into a ditch.. you act like taking that seat support out is gonna change the whole car and make it so I am driving on ice. and I am a autobody specialist and it hasn't effected my unibody one bit. I live in Utah where the weather is horrible 5 out of the 12 months of the year and my car has handled just fine.

ya the outer body panels. but try taking the inner wheelhouse and bending that metal. there is already another metal beam that crosses the back of the car to give it support

number 18. every 4th gen has it..
