Default 88 HB wiring issues??

So here's the deal. I was out driving my 88 HB a couple months ago and all of a sudden smoke started coming out from under the cluster. Now when ever I turn the blinkers on the heat hand and the gas hand jump up and down. When I turn the flashers on the heat and gas hand both go all the way up. Anybody have any ideas to what could be wrong. Could it be the wires behind the cluster?? I'd really like to start driving this car again but I'm afraid something will happen. Any help would be great. Thanks

it sounds like a short in the wires you need to pull the cluster out and check that is the best thing to do either way it has to be done n-e-way

yep your blinker indicator wires shorted out some how and are melted to your fuel and temp wires... have fun I would get a chilton or haynes manuals for some wire diagrams
