What's more dangerous?
Out of curiosity, I was wondering what the general consensus was between these two. I have my opinions of course, just wondering what everyone else thinks about this.
Only thing dangerous about not wearing a seatbelt, is prolly the $10 ticket or accident and going through the glass. Though if you do get in an accident and go through the glass, you prolly dont have any gear to protect you.
Still more dangerous on 2wheels.

Riding a motorcycle on the street is ridiculously dangerous. Hitting a large enough pothole or patch of black-ice, gravel, or having someone cut you off is potentially way more problematic on a motorcycle than in a car without a seatbelt on. Not to mention the obvious senarios that involve vehicle to vehicle contact.

+1 for bikes. For sure.

Do you consider to be a better driver or a better rider? Since I'm a good driver, I can drive, even without my lap belt on, and be relatively safe. And since I'm not a good rider, I will be less safe on the motorcycle.

Hardly. You have the added likelihood of an accident on a bike from cars not seeing you, gravel, flat tire, etc, etc so even if risk of damage was minimized by leathers and a helmet you're still more likely to get into a "situation" with a bike.

In what context. Riding my bike 2 miles to the grocery store is a lot safer than riding in a car without a seatbelt doing 140mph down the interstate. In fact, doing 140mph down the interstate on the bike is safer than in a car to me.
But going an average of 30mph over the posted limit for turns through the twisties on a bike is a lot more dangerous than driving to the grocery store in a car without a seat belt.
There was a guy on one of the forums I'm on that was riding shotgun in an evo with a seat belt. It was doing about 45mph, hit some gravel in a turn and launched into the air, as I recall. He had a fractured skull and a blood clot in his brain...not exactly safe if you ask me.

Use a little common sense. That's like saying sitting in a space shuttle on a launching pad is safer than flying in a plane full of jews and muslim terrorists. Well, no **** Sherlock.

Agreed. Bike is more dangerous IMO, even if the bike has an airbag, a la Goldwing, it's still more dangerous. But a lot of the danger factor has to do with people on bikes doing stupid sh*t and crashing.

I voted motorcycle but I think its not as worse as people would think. At least on a bike you are always more alert, looking for people that could cause you trouble and you have that mobility to avoid dangerous situations. People get very complacent in their cars so they aren't paying close attention to everything around them. They think being stopped at a light is a safe situation, I dont remember the last time on my bike I felt completely safe just sitting at a light.

It is a fact that most accidents happen within a 2 mile radius of your house. Doing 140 MPH is never safe on public roads.
