Default Weird Automatic Transmission Sound

My friend has a RSX (not type S), I think the year is 2003 (not sure about that). The problem is when he puts it into drive from neutral and his car is already moving forward. When he does this, there's this strange sound. It's sort of like a loud click or a tap. Is this a problem? Or is it supposed to do that? Any insight into this would be appreciated.

Thanks

No, not at all. He backs out of the driveway in reverse, then he shifts the car into neutral just before the car stops rolling backwards, lets go of the brake, waits for the car to just start rolling forward (since the street slopes down) and then puts it into drive. He's not going very fast at all, the car just starts to move forward when he puts it in drive. And no, he's not revving the engine.
