Yahoo Maps Beta > Google Maps for Route Planning
Most of us take a screenshot of Google Maps and then use paint to trace our route. This is a royal pain in the *** and shouldn't be necessary given today's technology. Enter the Yahoo Maps beta, which has introduced a waypoint system. Now all you have to do is right-click on the map where you want to start and select "Drive from here..." to set point A. Then you just right-click around the map where you want to end up, setting a "Drive to here..." point for the important turns along the way. The site designates the coordinates as a waypoint and maps out all the turns between as your various markers. It's currently not smart enough not to take the fastest route so it might force you on roads you don't want. To couteract this all you have to do is set a waypoint on the road you really want to force it that way.
Google may do a lot of things better but this destroys them for adaptability. On other sites, including Google I would get the most direct route from A to D or enter intersections manually for force it, which sucks if I want to take the long road. Not so the Yahoo beta.
Visit http://maps.yahoo.com and make sure you're on the beta.

In my area the Yahoo satellite images are far more recent. My house, built in 2001, is a patch of dirt in Google and I only live 20 miles outside of DC.
