Short Ram Intake
My 1998 Prelude is equipped with an AEM short ram intake. Previous owner had it installed. As you can view in this picture he f'ed up the filter alot and well left me trying to find a replacement filter.
I tried to take the filter off and measure it but it's bent in so many ways it's somewhat impossible to get correct measurements. Anyone has any idea what the deminsions are for this filter and where can I source a replacement? I was thinking of K&N.
Thanks.

do not waste your money on an aem filter. i have the cai which goes in the wheel well. i bought a k and n for about 50 bux at a part source and once i put it on my car was breathing a hell of a lot better then when i had the aem filter. k and n is really good i would go with them. the engine felt smoother and i could hear the air getting sucked up again. i give k and n

Isn't that who makes the filters that AEM uses anyway?

Just measure the diameter of the intake tube, and the length of the filter if you really care that you get the same one, and go to your local auto parts retailer. It's not like your motor is going to explode if you put a slightly different filter on it.

Your filter was probably just dirty and clogged up. Like any other filter, they need to be cleaned/replaced on a regular basis.

Anyone ever heard of someone cutting the short ram air intake for about 2 1/2 from the opening? I read on another prelude forum that it's commen with the 5th generation prelude owners with the short ram intake to cut that much off so that there is more room to be able to take the filter in/out and have more variaty of filters to use.

Yes you are correct!!! I had to cut about 2 inches cause my filter was rubbing on my headlight wires, now its eaisier to take the filter in and out to clean!!!
