^ see this page, i am painting my hatch myself with great results.

you could also go to maaco or earl sheib and get a decent paint job for about $800 - not sure how good it is though.

It looks like the let the air out, not slashed.

People have no respect for other people's property. If I saw this in the act, I am not sure what I'd do to catch them.
See how much insurance will allow you to claim. They probably will point you to some shops to get it fixed. If your insurance allows you, see if you can go to the following 3 I recommend if you are willing to travel:
In Gardena, Ca for excellent work, you can go to Sixteen Customs.
Honda Service Center in Torrance, Ca. I hear does a good job as well.
Sixteen Customs should cost you less since they are a small operation and don't have as much overhead.
MOB works is also worth mentioning for custom paint work but located in Orange, Ca
http://www.mobworks.com/
As another option,
There is a 1 day paint place all over LA as well (Click here). Their paint is warrantied for only 1 year for their cheapest system and 5 years for the most expensive stuff. (Using Dupont paint). Their paint is on one of the Import Tuner magazines. It won't take 1 day... that's just their name.
It looks like it ate at your clearcoat. Perhaps it will be easier to paint? I am not sure though but best of luck!

Damn, sorry to see what a$$holes did to your car, if you want a good paint job don't get those cheapy $400 paint job. Why? because those places just paint on top of existing paint without even sanding it. In terms the new paint will not grab onto existing paint due to the clearcoat. Clearcoat protects the basecoat so anything that is painted over the clearcoat it will want to repeal it.
In addition, from what have been done to your car the paint needs to be stripped down to bare metal and primed again since air plane stripper eats up paint and who knows if it got to the factory e-coat or not. So don't gamble on cheap paint job; it looks good, but in a few months it will start peeling off and you will be at the same point where you began with which is lots of headaches and many people to blame.
Well, a good paint job is better than oem and will cost around 3k up +(whatever you wanted to be done to the car). Good paint job are consist of completely sanding off the old clearcoat (in your case take it down to bare metal), priming, spot puddy, basecoat, and clearcoat. If you ever prep a car to paint you will know how much effort is envolved in a "good" paint job.

there's a maaco paint job thread, if you pay a little bit more for better paint and prepping, it looks just as good as oem paint. here's some pics. before you say they suck, do some research.
$600 (3yrs ago)

dont know price

there's more, but you can see the quality. some people have good luck with them, some dont.
i'd highly recommend you do your own prep if you do one of these paint jobs.

correct, and from these peoples experiences from that other thread, a lot of them would take any other cars to get painted there, so that leads me to believe they are doing something right...
happened to me a while back
3 week old element was keyed and tires slashed
(psycho gf's ex bf)
estimate was about 1900
that was for one side repainted , hood
and new tires so figure about 3000-4000

I've gotten 3 good ppg paintjobs with some body work on 3 different cars in the past for $1200 or so for each one....you don't have to spend $3k to get a good paintjob. just find a good body shop.
