Default Accusump Turbo-Oiler

http://www.accusump.com/acc_pr...r.htm

Saw this in a magazine and the web page doesnt give much info on the product. Can anyone explain how this thing works and what it does? I know it discharges cool oil on the turbo internals but it says during "spool down" does that mean after you shut the car off or everytime the rpms/turbine speed drops? Thanks for any info/input.

on engine shutdown it will cycle fresh oil.
i believe with their turbo oiler when it sees oil pressure it will charge the cylinder. then when it sees no oil pressure it will release cylinder pressure pumping the oil into the turbo lines.
you need to purchase the electronic valve with the unit also which will automatically charge and discharge the cylinder. if you go with the manual valve, i think you would have to open the valve upon startup to pressurize the cylinder, then close the valve. upon shutdown you'd reopen the valve to pressurize the turbo line and cool the turbo.

So is this like a replacement for a turbo timer?

You have to ask yourself though..is it really needed? I currently have a turbonetics turbo that has 44K miles on it, never had a turbo timer, and the turbo is perfectly fine..

I would maybe consider this for a race only car, but not a street/strip.
