Default Just installed HID lights on my bike

After debating it for a few months, i finally broke down and bought a HID system for my bike... the light it puts out on the road is amazing, VERY bright with a nice cutoff so it doesnt blind cars(tested by having my wife drive infront of me ) the setup was plug and play, but I wanted to be fancy by hooking up a relay and a push button so I dont double fire the ballasts on startup.

The pictures dont do it justice, but you get the idea..

before..

during..

after..

I followed this guys how-to:

http://www.600rr.net/vb/showth...pp=15

I didnt have to cut any of my wiring harness though.. this is what I did so its a little less confusing..

using an automotive relay..

terminal 30: switch side of negative headlight wire
terminal 87: ballast side of negative headlight wire
terminal 86: positive headlight wire
terminal 85: to a normally open momentary switch (other side of switch to terminal 30)

then add a jumper from terminal 87 to 85.

Thanks! only the low beam for now since I only use the high beam for flashing people.. but maybe down the road. The low beam puts out more than enough light.

The HID unit draws more power on start up then the regular halogens bulbs. The electrical wiring might melt or cause problems down the road. When I did my HID set up, i just tapped the stock wiring. So far so good.

I have only blown one fuse with my hid's and mine has 2 hid's. You should think about putting one in your other headlight also and just having them both on. My friend has both on his 1000rr and it looks hawt. Either way yours looks

I have my icon boots on in the last pic, the other pics were taken right after i installed it

I used a relay to prevent double firing of the ballast on startup(which blows fuses and decreases the life of the bulb and ballast) so I startup my bike, then push a button to start the headlights. The HID is 35watts compared to stock 55w so no worries..

thanks for the comments! I might take it apart this or next weekend to install some more stuff and maybe clean up the wiring a little bit. I'll take pictures if I do

for anyone who wanted to see how I wired the push button.. I built a whole new harness from the ground up and installed it..

Here's the whole thing

Here's how it's plugged in to the relay

You can see where I put everything, I made the wires a little longer than needed incase I ever wanted to move it somewhere else... I just folded and ziptied the slack(no pictures though)

Here's the left ram air cover installed, it all fits perfect... you can also see where I placed the push button

You can see it's completely hidden.. the black and red wires go straight from the ballast to the light socket.

i have 6000k in both my 929rr and my 750.. love them!

on the 750 i have them in the high beams slots just so on start up i they are no on.. the low beams i have luminatic's bulbs so it blends well when the HID's are on... since the lights are in one houseing and side by side i almost never have just 1 side on
