Default bad day at the track

So I went to the track, to check out how the new tranny worked out (2001 type r trans). And well, I think i ran bad because the gears are so short, therefore I was shifting into 5th before the end of the 1/4. Anyone else shifting into 5th, or got this tranny?

how much power? and how tall tires?
b16 - here 24.5's trapping 8800 in 4th shifting at 9400. trying 10.2 at e-town.

p.s.
i went to MIR, took 2 days off, rented a truck, hotel for 2 nights, took a day and a half off from work. got to joes shop, didnt get on the dyno till the sun came up, didnt even sleep in the hotel the first night, got to the track, and snapped an inner first pass. weekend cost a fortune, and went 60' thats a bad weekend.

he hee. just laugh.

if you exploded an ls trans running high 13s low 14s and on street tires you arent driving properly. you need to preload the tranny. im running well over a full second faster than you are, with radials and a 100k +mile ls trans with stock diff and its doing fine.

let out the clutch just to where you feel the car is ready to start moving, that way your power is already "preloaded" into the clutch

I have a 98+ jdm type r with the 4.78 FD. I am pushing about 280hp running on 22inch slicks, i end the quarter at about 8000rpms in 4th.

oh btw, you go drag racing with your girlfriend in the car?

Naw, I ran 14.3 on some weak *** dunlop tires.. No traction.. And my down pipe was missing 3 bolts on the way to track.. Turned out i striped three of it.. But planning to come back some where in two weeks and boost it at 10 psi this time...

One more thing, Ran it with a full interior and a 10 inch sub...lol
Hopefully i hit low 13's with some slicks..

yeah, she wanted to see what it was like. not like its a super fast car, where I'd be worried for her health. The tranny had 180,000 miles on it. Im not tuned, so right now, my whp is probably around 250?. Ok, it was a bad weekend the last time, when the tranny broke. I can't rev out to 8 yet, atleast until I get my rev limiter raised. Therefore I have to shift into 5th, which as we all know takes the longest to shift into. about preloading...is it launching? or just kinda getting up and going? i always want to try it, but i get so nervous on the line and just let off.

please dont rev your ls motor to anything over about 7400-7500 stock valvetrain. you'll be pretty pissed when your rockers come loose and start rattling around in your head

my 60' was a 2.2...the valve train is NOT stock. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by jdmhonda &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">thats weird my type r traps at 110mph and i finish at 8600 in 4th</TD></TR></TABLE> yeah, exactly, my rev limiter is set at stock settings, 7100? i think. I wanted to wait till i got bigger injectors, and a different mani.

hey man,

I have a ls-t coupe w/ 238whp.

Last season i ran a 13.4 @105mph as my best 1/4 time.

But due to my low reving ls and the short gearing of the gsr tranny, i was have to shift into fifth RIGHT before the finish line.

but the only reason i got the gsr was planing for my ls-vtec turbo setup that im building right now.

i think its pretty normal for an ls motor havint to shift into 5th if you have a short tranny.. the tranny just isnt made for the ls redline.
