Default 4th gen as a demo derby car

where do you think the weakest points woudl be for a 4th gen prelude as a demolision derby car? I'm thinking alternator location woudl be the worst, what do you think?

lol, thats just funny, but yeah that could be a weak point. are you allowed to weld any steel onto the car?

actually the battery should outlast the length of the demo so maybe you could just get rid of it and throw a charger on it between rounds.

If the standard alternator location is a problem, i can think of at least one place you can relocate it to

A unibody car designed to crumple under impact isn't going to last long. That's why they typically use old domestics.

1980 Buick lesabre ftw...

that was my first car.. I drove it over curbs doing 60, ramped off of dips, crashed thru fences, hit a deer got side swipped by a ford fiesta who was doing about 40 and the car never drove any different.. get a car like that and you will own the rest. use your prelude and you will get owned by a buick your choice.

^^^ Sure but why a lude? If its got a motor in it and runs and drives don't trash it. Use something else of less value.

Fourth gens don't go for that much $$ esp with all the wheel well rot they seem to get. There are plenty of neglected ones for cheap.

I think it would make a good demo derby car. The hood sits kinda low so I'm thinking that somemething might come down hard on it hitting the top of the radiator. Could you use a smaller radiator?

Also I would cut out the wheel wells some so you they tires are less likely to rub.

Take some pics

Dude, you can get the old buicks and gm cars for a few hundred bucks.

You find me a running 4th gen prelude for a few hundred. I have never seen one. I paid $400 for a engineless 92 Lude parts car.

WTF is wrong with you?
I love Accords and Preludes both
don't use either
Just for the OP that is seriously inquiring about using a Prelude as a demolition derby car, YOU should use a fwd go cart and see how long you last in the competition...

there is a reason why you will never see a honda in a demo derby. they are fuel injected, have weak thin metal, are to low, are to light, and just generally not a good car.

just buy an old carbureted car.

I think the lude might be a pretty good demo car if you think about it. It has a pretty reinforced chassis. I would be forsure remove the P.S., and get a smaller batterie. Maybe a lower radiator. Take off the anti-lock, and then when your driving don't wear a seatbelt, that always makes the car fall apart.

I do not believe that ANY hona would make a good car for a demolition derby. Crumple zones are BAD for that kind of competition.

I personally would get something like a Chrysler Imperial....if its allowed. I know some places have certain models NOT allowed due to their effectiveness at winning.
