header wrap? for h22?r
I wraped my first DC header years ago... sold it to a friend who had it on his car for 5 years until a pack rat decided to eat it all. Worked fine, but not needed.
i just installed some headre wrap on my car last weekend. didn't make any power, but lowered engine bay temp a lot more than i was expecting. exhaust got a little louder i think though...maybe because the exhaust gasses are hotter and flowing faster??? plus for only $30 why wouldn't you give it a try?

I have been running exhaust wrap for 6 months on my stainless steel header. So far so good. I can't really compare between not haveing the wrap verses having it, since I wrapped it *before* I installed the header. You can take a look at it here:

I actually asked the guys here in the forum if I should have a heat shield or not, and well so far so good. No discoloration on the hood or anything.
One thing I have been told is that you should not put heat wrap on a ceramic coated header or cast. Wrapped cast will eventually rot.
Hope that helps.
