Default Rim strips, yay or nay?

Can't decide whether I should spend the money and get them or not. Rice or not?

Got this pic off of a different forum, my bike is a 03.

I voted nay, but that's because *I* don't like them. If you like it, get it.

so you have solid black rims i'm guessing? i did this for my own eyes really but thought it'd be good for comparison. i like it both ways, so for me it'd really depend how much it would cost. do you have a price?

On some bikes I don't like it but on that I think it would be pretty awesome.

i was told that if you actually wanted to keep it on there, that the best way is to have someone paint them on by spinning the tire and painting it on that way, its a bitch to get the tape straight. it might look straight when its sitting still but when you are moving you will see every little off centering the tape has

and how often are you looking at your rims while you're moving?
if you want to make it easier, do what i did. Get the 1/4" tape, and do two strips around each side. That way it takes up the entire rim space, and as long as you're following the edges, you can't mess it up.

If all that mattered was how the bike looked to you, why dont you just put an overlay of how you want your bike to look on your helmet visor, that way when you look at it, it looks the way you want it to look.

Now if you are riding it (since most of the time that its visible you are riding it, unless you park outside) how often are they going to notice big squiggly uneven tape on your rims... All the time?

of course it matters to us how our bikes look

we dont want them to look like ****, how are you supposed to impress the ladies?

not all of the tape is squiggly, some companies make them curved so that you dont apply them unevenly

and you notice the rim stripes in motion all the time. like when i see black yamahas go by, the first thing i notice is the rim stripe

i think its bad ***

I like them on certain bikes. Just remember if you get the tape ones, when you change your tires its going to get messed up.

Who cares what we think. If you like it get it. IMHO, they look good from afar but when you see it up close it looks cheap.

Just take your time applying it. It's not that hard to make nice round lines.
