Default Has anyone sound deadened their whole car?

I'm thinking about sound deadening my whole car with some of Second Skin's products (like Dynamat). I want to do everything, doors, floor, hatch, roof, rear quarter panels.

I'm doing it to cut down on road noise and to make my car quieter... i really don't care about the weight.

Who here has done it? And how were your results? did u think it was worth it?

absolutely. best money ive spent on my car yet. be sure to get the firewall and the wheel wells in the rear, as those are a major source of noise. Just doing the doors makes a huge difference, too.

We have done more then a few cars "fully", [we are a Dynamat dealer] and if weight is not an issue, go nuts, gut the cars interior, and lay it on, and as rlockwood points out, pay special attention the the wheel tubs, [wells] floor pan and firewall.
A hood liner will go a long way in cutting motor noise also. 94

Hell me too. I did my beater da that I am rebuilding. I did everthing but the fire wall and the roof. As soon as it was done it was a night and day diffrence. My pioneer speakers that are co-axial and were just the basic gave off so much midbass I was taking them out to make sure I really did put the cheap ones in, lol. I might do the roof in a week. But I don't think i am going to do the fire wall. to much work imo. but you can't go wrong

either pull the dash out or try to get as much a possiable with out taking it out. It was a big diffrence And how much you use will depend on how quiet the car is.

any time I open/shut a non deadened door now, I feel like i'm breaking it. Its alot better after, definately feels "more expensive"

Does that resolve the tinny sounds that integras make when you shut the door? My wife's 2006 Civic EX is much more "solid" sounding when the doors shut. If so, I might be interested just for that

exactly. the doors close with a nice 'THUD' rather than a 'clink' as do the stock.

I'm doing my 00 EK this week. I bought 36 sq feet of Dynamat Extreme... friggin $260.

I tried to find aerosol to get all the hard parts, but no stores seem to stock it anymore and I don't want to wait buying it online.

I found a link to someone who used 3M or simliar rubberized undercoating and said it worked wonders.

I'm going to cover as much as I can with the Dynamat and then spray everything else with the undercoat... it's only $4/can at hardware stores.. and it says on the can it's for automotive nosie reduction.

Holy crap...260 wasted. Search on ebay for dynamat, you could have bought over 2 packs of this stuff.

Yea, I cancelled that order. I should have done more research. I'm going with Raammat now. Still gonna cost me ~$400...

3 rolls of mat (180sqft) ~$300
9 yards of Ensolite foam (81 sq ft) ~ $100

I want to do the whole car, and double or triple layers in the hatch area.

Raammatt only weighs .35lbs/ft, so even if I use it all, I'm adding 63lbs to the car. Ditching the spare and tools will save me 30lbs, and my CF hood saves me another 15 or so. Id still be very close to stock weight, only Lexus like interior noise.
