06 civic oil filters?
ok. I changed my oil for the first time in my 06 civic EX coupe (1.8L). The oil filter i pulled off the car looked different than the oil filter I had to replace it. Both were manufuactured by honda. The size was the same but internally there were some slight difference i.e. there were 6 ports instead of 8. Ive heard all hondas use the same oil filter now except for the s2000 and the pilot. Any help on this topic would be appreciated.
The filter on the car from the factory is different than the ones you'll get as a replacement. The only ones that are completely different are the S2000 and Insight filters, and of course 84 and older cars.

Pilot uses the same filter as every other honda like matt mentioned, only different filters are for the 3cyl insights and for the s2k's. As long as youre using a 15400-PLM-A01(or A02), youre fine

People have used them because they are a better quality filter with larger capacity and slightly lower oil pressure for turbo applications but if Honda thought they were better they would have used them on the car to begin with i'm sure.
