u can actually hear whether the starter is bad or not...
he just hears a click meaning there are no sparks coming from the distributor and the starter actually works...
Bad battery causes the car not to start...
Common problem for distributors to fail at 100K+ miles...
I'd start with the battery though...u dont need to buy one but borrow one from a friend or boost jump one with someone else's help...
But in any case you find oil near the distributor that basically means your o-ring is dry. dry o-ring = bad...u need to get that replaced(there's a DIY on this thread u gotta use the search button). Then you buy a new coil and replace it since i bet its soaking wet in oil.

I believe it may be a distributor related problem because when I tried to push start my car it would turn over and nothing else would happen, and my starter is good too. So I think it may be distributor related

I just double checked and two of the three screws on my distributor cap are missing. They were on when I took my car to get painted and I just got it back and now they are missing. Could driving it like that have caused this mess?
Time to clear up all the misunderstandings about starter diagnosis in this thread. If the starter is bad it will normally make a click sound. The click sound is caused by the pull in winding in the starter pulling the armature of the starter up against the fly wheel and the hold in winding not keeping it there. If the solenoid was bad there would not be a click, because the windings would not be energized.
Second of all a bad ignition coil would not cause a no crank condition, so you can rule that out.
The most likely cause of your problem is a bad battery.
If the battery is in fact good than it is most likely the starter. One way to check it is to have some one try to crank it over while you hit it with a hammer. Normally this wil start the car.

ok my battery was dead enough so my car wouldnt sttart but my radio, lights everything else worked.. if i pop started my car it'd work.. it was a dead battery bro.. have someone jump start it or pop start it..
if you REALLY dont think its the battery, then check for spark, if no spark then it could be the ignition coil it self inside the dizzy.

I tried Jumping the battery....no luck. Just that click sound when Id turn the key.
No spark form the ignition, I tried to push start it and itd turn over but nothing else.
So am I leaning torwards the ignition coil?

how long has this problem been going on? form my personal experience it could be a crimped wire to your distributor or your fuel pump. you say it clicks but doesnt try to turn over huh.......i would suggest you get the bolts for your distributor too

sometimes the little wire going to the starter gets loose. . double check that. . or see if one of your terminals is bad on your batt.
