Don't bother with an HID kit and some ebay projectors, most times it's going to be awful output and you'll just be wasting money.

My Accord with a kit didnt put out too much glare, but there was more light than the stock halogen housing could handle and it spread out in weird ways. I just switched to HiR bulbs and Philips Night Hawks and it's been just as good without the worries. I wouldnt recommend it.

You'll be spending a lot of money on something that offers mediocre performance and illegal and it will just be a hassle down the line. I've spent a lot of money on my headlights and I know for a fact it really isnt worth the trouble. THere's a right way and a wrong way and i've seen plenty of shitty examples. If you can't afford to do it right don't **** your money away on something that doesnt perform as well.

HiR bulbs are halogen bulbs iwth a coating that reflects IR light back into the filament, which leads to better light output.

Yea but if you do a comparo of a halogen housing HID kit and a reflector based HID kit (the least clear) its still night and day. Projector based HIDs are a totally different story, i've got a pair of S2K's waiting for a home. S2K projector=the sex

retrofit HID projectors are the only way to go. i know a guy (not personally) that does them a few a few bills with TSX or audi projectors i think. after i get my suspension stuff done, i'm considering a TSX HID projector retrofit. just buying a ballast with HID bulbs and sticking it in your stock housing may actaully not light up the road any better and will cause nothing but annoyed oncoming traffic or possible ticket. the light needs to be focused, which it won't be that way. find a set of audi/bmw/TSX/S2k HIDs.

im lookin to get around 6K and aiming them a bit lower to the ground. Im also lowered about/over 2 inches so even real HIDs kill my eyes from all directions.

Closer to 4300k would be the best light output, my 5300's were almost like the color of a white LED, pure white but with a slight hint of blue gray color. 6000 will start getting more blue and start getting you more attention

yeah ive got the xenon bulbs that supposedly mimic 7K but around where Im from the cops have more to worry about than cars. Im from Richmond, VA we are in the top 10 for most murders in the US.

But yeah some of my buddies have like 10K in there cars and thats just ridiculous. Im still debating on take my chances on the lower K and if its not the greatest then Ive got a second plan for projectors.

IMHO there isnt anything out there that lights the road up better than HID kits in reflector housings. I would say a retrofit is only for the nice cutoff and basically thats it, also no glare and legality issues thats all. Even with a retro though, if you arent getting the nice projectors the cutoff on some of those things are plain horrible anyways.

I have experience with both kinds so far and HID kits in reflector housings puts out more light than a retrofit. Even now as I drive along and someone pulls up with a HID kit in their reflector housings, they blow my retro away. I have Rx330 projectors with Philips Ultinons. Yes they are Ultinons but these guys are rolling up with like 8k HID kits because its blue as hell. I cant even see my output on the ground vs theirs. Maybe Im comparing wrong.

Overall though, HID kit in stock reflector housings will light up the road like nothing else. It just glares and its illegal thats all. If you live where its not so riced out, CALI, then you wont get bothered by the cops. Just say you got into a front end collision and they couldnt align them right anymore.

Get a quality kit though, or else you'll regret it.
