Default Has Anyone Heard of this Manifold?

awhile ago when i was just getting pushed into the drag scene i had come across what seemed like a great deal, a custom turbo setup, anyway being a noob i bought it and now i want to know if i was ripped off (i bought and he was supposed to try and install it but decided he couldn't do it, so i was left ith the parts i paid for with no turbo installed)

anyway, have you guys ever heard of a Kumes manifold? i am not sure how to spell it but the name sounds similar to the word "boom" and my guess is it starts with a C or a K. I am not too sure if it is even legit so i need the feedback.

(^.^)V - thanks guys

Here is the pic, that's some sort of garrett turbo by the way, some guy at a shop told me it looked like a HKS turbo with Turbonetics internals...

Thanks for the Help

looks like an internally gated turbine using an external wastegate. not the first time that's been done. that's why that smaller pipe is separate from the downpipe right off the turbine.

maybe you are thinking of the manufacturer Kook's Manifolds?

That is an OBX/SSAC manifold though.

its not an ssac, you can tell because none of the obx or ssac mani's of that style have any welds on the runners. this one has several, and it looks like it was pieced togather with normal manderal bends. Also as you see in the pics this one has a merge collector, another thing the ssac and obx never had
The sparks mani looked like that and had the same welds and had a pretty decent track recored

i actually took a good look at the compressor last night and realized that it is turbonetics, yea no HKS in my opinion too, some people are unimformed, haha.

I was looking at the OBX headers online to compare and they don't look entirely the same. OBX seems to have an extra pipe with a flange on the end (maybe this is only for specific models?).

i left the mani and turbo out in the patio (the patio is covered) one night and then it rusted up, not watter hit it, just humidity i guess.

Kook's...maybe, but, don't they do domestics?

Yess Rusty Corroded Wastegates Rock!

(^.^)V - the help rocks, any idea what type of wastegate that is?

edit: i was also told that not many of these manifolds were made, and that they no longer sold them

How Many Equal Length Manifolds Are there without a pipe for the wastegate? I'm beginning to wonder if this manifold if custom with "kooms" or whatever brand pipes, can't be sure though. But i am pretty sure at the moment that this can't be OBX/SSAC/Sparks, because all of those seem to have piping for the wastegate too and mine does not.

I've seen the motor his thing was on before and the car too (DA), sleeved, low comp pistons etc, it was maintained as a track only car and i'm sure it was boosting quite a bit. *Sigh*

(^.^)V - sorry to post *****, i am just curious to see what everyone else thinks

That is a cheap manifold, look at the head flange. It's a cheap header flange then flared into round "runners". Plus with no wastegate flange, it's a obx/ss.

This Is The Correct Answer for that Funky Wastegate Placement.

For Those Of You Who Are Curious what I bought included:

-The Manifold in Question
-The Turbo - Looks Like Turbonetics Compressor/Internals on a Garrett Turbine Housing (a/r .70) (Are Turbonetics Turbo's by Garrett?) i think it's a t04
-Intercooler Piping
-HKS Intercooler Core
-HKS Standard Series Wastegate
-RC Engineering Injectors (can't remember size, sold them for $200)
-Custom Downpipe
-GReddy Catch Can (New)
-HKS Manual Boost Controller (new)
-Fuel Pump off of a Porsche
-Fuel Regulator (can't remember brand Walbro maybe)

I paid 1400, so was this a noob thing to do? i was told everything that wasn't new had 200 miles on it, which is strange for a "track only" car, don't you think? Oh yea this was well over a year ago...

What do you think i should have paid?

(^.^)V - thanks for all the help thus far

I'm not going to stick up for the manifold, because I have welded one about 20 times for a customer, kept cracking in every different spot you could imagine, but the pipes could be flared like that to match up the flange. Flanges usually have a oval port, not round.

Well, looks like i have enough people agreeing that it is not a SSAC or OBX, Closest comparison is the Sparks so i guess i'll take that for now, sorry if i wasted some of your time but i am still pretty new to the world of Turbo's. Soon i'll post some questions about the turbo you see in these pictures and the Wastegate....thanks for everything guys
