Shall I sell my Accord?
It's a 2000 Accord Coupe EX V6 @ 96kmi. I bought it three months ago, and now it's giving me all sorts of problems. Previously, the car had been serviced at the Honda dealer all the time. I have all the records. Carfax reports an accident, but it also says it was a "minor damage".
At 97kmi, the check engine light went on while I was on the street. The car suddenly lost power, regardless that I pushed the pedal down a lot and rpm went up to 4, 5k. Had it towed to Honda dealer, where they replaced the transmission (ouch) and the alternator. They had no idea why two components broke down at the same time.
After only one week, I found that as I turn left, I can hear a loud grinding noise from the passenger side wheel area. Went to dealer again, and they replaced the front wheel bearing and something called hub assembly (about the same price as the wheel bearing).
Now the light behind the clock is broken. And I suspect there is some noise similar to what I heard the previous week on the wheel bearing problem as I turn right. I have to visit the dealer again.
Now the car is still under extended warranty, but it will soon expire (Next May). The transmission has been replaced, so it should be ok, but what about other parts? It seems the car I bought and loved is a lemon Honda. I don't know what to do. For now I have to fix the noise or nobody will buy it.

I am asking for advice, not auctioning the car. As a matter of fact, the replaced parts got an additional 3 years of warranty, so I am not afraid of them breaking down again soon. And since the easiest-to-break parts are all replaced, it may be wise to keep it instead of selling. There is no gaurantee that I got some other used car trouble-free.
As for hondadude's hobby, I am willing to sell the broken transmission for $550.50

yes yes and don't mention anything about the FORD cluster.
one more thing about your mishap, when the alternator starting to fail, it will not let the car shift right. Ask me because both of my friend's av6 was like that, it will not shift to second for some reason. I though it was the tranny also but it end up being a failing alternator.
So you dealer could cheated you on the tranny, not saying they are but they could

This makes sense. But I think the dealer really did replace the transmission because the service rep told me that the new transmission got another 3 years of warranty. Seems like the transmission comes in a package, which incudes all parts, labor and a 3-year warranty.
Btw, the old and new alternators are both Delphi. Crappy ones?

Delphi?
Most definately yes. Those are GM alternators from the 'lowest-bid-possible' parts bin.
I'll tell you a story. My cousin is an engineer whose company sells bearings. They had a contract w/ GM to supply alternator bearings. The specs called for heat resistant stainless steel. What did GM buy? Nickel-plated....at a savings of a few cents per unit.......garunteed to fail prematurely.

If it goes out again and you're out of warranty, i'd replace it with an aftermarket unit. This one shop i knew sourced the alternators from a rebuilder who would drill / grind out the old alternator bodies so they could press in larger bearings.
All of GM / Ford's Research and Development is designed to do one thing: build cars to fail precisely the moment the warranty expires.

Sounds like you have some of the bigger problems out of the way! I have had four accords and currently own 2, you are always going to have things coming up on a vehicle at the 100K mark. After what you have done, I would replace all the wheel bearings, get a flush and fill on the radiator, change plugs, cap & rotor and then drive it like crazy. Honda's are awesome, very dependable! Hang on to it. If you buy something else with 100K on it you could come out allot worse...

Really? I have a 98 AV6 and now it shifts pretty jerky into 2nd gear and I can feel that it just wouldnt want to shift into 2nd gear if I press on the pedal hard. I'm suspecting its the tranny problem and I have flushed my tranny twice with Honda genuine fluid. It seems better but the problem is still there. Any advice? How can you tell if my alternator is bad?
Thanks.

My radio began to skip when the alternator broke down, then moments later the tranny couldn't shift into higher gears, then moments later someone in my car found out the power window failed to work.
Before these dramatic symptoms, several days earlier there can be heard a rather loud noise coming from the belts region when u pop the hood. I think it's from the alternator. I just couldn't believe how quiet the car become after they replaced the it.
