Default Stock Gsr cams Vs Skunk Stage 1s

Hey, getting ready to install my turbo kit, right now i have stage 1s in my car and was wondering if they would hurt me at all, i would switch the stock gsr cams back in my car but i sold them a bit ago, my back up plan is to swap out cams in my girlfriends car when she comes back from college in a few weeks as she has a gsr, do you think it would be worth the hassle of swapping the stage 1s out or could i possibly benifit from them

If your running a mild turbo setup they should be ok. Im not 100% on how they work with turbo cars aslong as the overlap isnt too excessive you should be in the clear. At worst get yourself some cam gears.

sorry to bump since its so old, but i have the EXACT same question. ive searched and havent found a definitive answer to whether the stage 1's would be beneficial or harmful on a mild turbo setup on a stock block. i also have the skunk2 cam gears and type r springs and retainers. if anyone could please explain or elaborate on what has been stated, that would great. thanks a lot.

its been proven that skunk tuner 1's make more power on a boosted setup just about everywhere when compared to ctr/itr cams which are better than GSR cams, so the answer is KEEP the skunk2 tuner stage 1's.

alright, thanks a lot for the info. if you could answer one more question that would be cool: if i run the stock block, would i be able to reliably make 250-300 whp or would i have to lower the compression a little bit. i know i need to change out other stuff but i will continue to search about them. thanks again.

Or you could pull the skunk2's and trade me for my GSR's........... LOL

Keep those cams, like blinx said they are excellent cams for your setup........

Are you running the pro series stage 1 cams or the tuner stage 1 cams??

I've heard a lot of good things about the pro series stage 1 cams.
I just purchased a set and am waiting to install them. I have the ctr cams and they made good power. I'm real curious as to how my power band will change. If you have the stage 1 cams I say stay with them.

You are fine at 10:1 if you are only shooting for 300 whp.
