Default Would This be Ok?

Well my speed sensor went out a while ago but then i couldn't find any replacements in the junk yard in the area around here that has any junked up integra. So my guy (mechanic) gets a prelude and we installed it and it worked but he said it might be like 5mph off due to the transmission ratio from a prelude and integra. Is that true that it might be off? Well let me know! Thanx

I dont know much about speed sensors, but my guess is that it is the same as an integra one.

If it looks the same comparing it to your integra one,
I don't see why it would be 5mph off, if it's the Same size that is.

Only reason I can think of it being off is because the Prelude came with larger diameter tires and the sensor measures before the tire.

But the Prelude tranny also has different gear ratios and different final drive ratio. So it may or may not be the same as an Integra.

Gear ratios are irrelavent to the VSS. The VSS simply measures the differential speed.

Check the calibration using a GPS unit. Or search google for "hondahookup manuals", download the appropriate manuals, and calculate the clicks per mile for the Integra and Prelude VSSs compensating for the different tire sizes.

or find a flat stretch of road, set cruise control, and measure time between mile markers. 3600/seconds per mile = actual speed in mph
